Ms. Tina Benamon - Spanish

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” - Romans 8:38-39

Tina Benamon grew up in a military family and moved around as a child. She was born in Long Beach, California, and  lived in the Philippines and Philadelphia before moving to Tennessee. She has a BA in Spanish from the University of Memphis and a Master's degree in Education from Christian Brothers University. Before joining the staff at Christ Methodist Day School, Tina taught ninth and tenth grade Spanish for one year for Shelby County Schools. When she is not busy teaching pre-school through sixth grade Spanish, her love is to travel and spend time with family and friends.

CMDS Spanish is a FLEX program (Foreign language for exploration).
Welcome to Spanish class at CMDS! Exciting things are happening in the learning process in “la clase de español”. Pre-school students are introduced to the Spanish language and culture through songs, colors, numbers, shapes and other developmental skills.  Students in First through Fourth Grade build on prior knowledge to improve speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. Fifth and Sixth Graders are taught Spanish as an academic subject, meeting twice a week. Students will be engaged throughout the year in projects or hands on activities that allow them to explore the language and culture of Spanish speaking countries and their people.
Mission Statement
Christ Methodist Day School is dedicated to quality
Christian elementary education for boys and girls.
