The last 2 weeks, we have been learning about the letter Ww and Ss. We painted a giant snake by making a squiggly line on our paper and using strips of colorful construction paper to make a ABAB pattern on our snakes body. We added a wiggle eye and a red strip for the tongue. We looked in our letter buckets to learn new things that start with the letter Ww and Ss. We read the books Flip and Flop by Dawn Apperley, Polar Bear, Polar Bear What do you hear by Bill Martin Jr, The Mitten by Jan Brett, and Tacky the Penguin by Helen Lester. We used used roller brushes to paint an Artic class mural with white and blue paint and white glitter. We then cut out and built penguins to hang on the mural. Everyone seems to be working on their cutting skills at home--Thank you! We painted and "sewed" and big mitten and stuffed it with all the pictures from the animals in the story The Mitten. The class really enjoyed sharing the correct order with their friends. We practiced putting various size snowmen in order from smallest to largest and putting the correct number snowflake shaped pasta on the snowman picture by naming the number in the picture. In our science center, we used a magnifying glass to see a tiny winter scene picture and match it to the correct large picture. Everyone loved looking at the pictures with the magnifying glass.
