Mrs. Jan Dugan - Director of Communications

"Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."  - Philippians 4:6-7

A native Memphian, Jan grew up in Jackson, Tennessee. She moved back to Memphis to attend the University of Memphis where she earned a bachelor of professional studies, a self-designed degree combining journalism, art, photography and sociology. Jan has been married for 25 years to her college sweetheart, Dennis, and they have two children who are graduates of CMDS.  Erin is a junior at Vanderbilt University and Sean is a sophomore at CBHS.
Jan started substituting here in 2003, after taking nearly ten years off to be a full-time mom. During this time she stayed closely connected to the school by volunteering in the classroom and leading her daughter’s Girl Scout troop for six years. She joined the Day School staff full-time in July 2005, as Director of Communications. "I feel so blessed to be able to stay at CMDS even though my children have graduated," says Jan. "The atmosphere here is truly exceptional, almost inexplicable."
