Mrs. Amy Edwards - Director of Parent's Day Out
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” - Matthew 6:34
Amy Edwards was born in South Bend, Indiana, but has lived in Memphis since she was a toddler. She graduated from Evangelical Christian School and earned her BS in elementary education from the University of Memphis. Amy first began working on the Christ Methodist campus as an intern in the church athletic ministries department.
She taught third grade at Westwood Elementary for one year before returning to Christ Methodist as Assistant Director of the Day Care and Parent’s Day Out programs in 1998. Four years later, Amy took several years off to be a full-time mom to her two children, Quinn and Maddie Grace. In 2007, though, she felt herself being pulled back once again to CMDS, where she worked part time as a substitute teacher until she was hired as the PDO director in 2009.
Amy and husband John are longtime members of Christ Church and enjoy teaching an adult Sunday school class together. When she’s not working or spending time with her family, Amy enjoys writing, sewing, gardening, cooking, painting, and listening to a wide variety of music. Her spiritual gifts, she says, are hospitality and administration, making her an organized hostess.
