Spotlight on New Lead Faculty Members at CMDS

We are officially one-fourth of the way through the 2017-18 school year, a perfect time to visit with Christ Methodist Day School’s four new lead faculty members. CMDS is excited to welcome these women to our faculty this year. Our students and staff have loved getting to know them, and now it’s your turn!

Lauren Blythe, 1st Grade 

Education: B.A., Economics, The University of the South; M.A., Learning and Teaching, Lipscomb University

My first job: Counselor in Training at Camp Bear Track. My first job after college was interning with the Nashville Sports Council and Music City Bowl.

My favorite part of teaching: The relationships with my students

One word to describe me: Enthusiastic

Hobbies: Playing sports, cheering for the Grizz and watching TV shows

Last book read: “The Energy Bus” by Jon Gordon

Favorite movie: “8 Seconds”

Favorite vacation spot: Sewanee, Tenn.

Favorite cause: Golden Retriever Rescue

One thing that’s different about CMDS so far: How easy it was to come in and immediately feel like a part of the community

Alicia Cull, SK 

Education: B.S., Elementary Education, University of Memphis

My first job: Kindergarten Teacher at Raleigh-Egypt

A favorite student moment: Listening to my students sing in chapel

My favorite part of teaching: Seeing the growth in my students throughout the year

One word to describe me: Loyal

Person I admire most: My daughter, Ellie, for her strength and perseverance at such a young age

Hobbies: Running, playing outside with my kids and shopping

Favorite movie: “Bridesmaids”

Favorite cause: Supporting JDRF for Type 1 Diabetes

One thing that’s different about CMDS so far: CMDS puts the kids and their families first and supports them and the faculty in a way that separates it from other schools.

Caroline Patton, Early Childhood Art 

Education: B.A., Studio Art and Psychology, University of Tennessee-Knoxville

My first job: Ann Taylor sales associate

My favorite part of teaching: Seeing how proud and delighted a student can be in something he or she creates.

One word to describe me: Devoted

Hobbies: Long power walks, podcasts, trying not to eat dark chocolate all day long and “artsy” endeavors

Last book read: “Where’d You Go Bernadette” by Maria Semple

Favorite movie: “ Father of the Bride”

Favorite vacation spot: The beach

Favorite cause: RUF International

One thing that’s different about CMDS so far: The teachers are just as fun and sweet to work with as coworkers as they were when they were my teachers.

Kate Walker, 2nd Grade 

Education: PK-6th Grade at CMDS, 7th-12th at Briarcrest; B.A., Elementary Education, University of Mississippi; M.A., Curriculum and Instruction, University of Mississippi

My first job: Mirimichi Golf Course – I got to meet Justin Timberlake!

My favorite part of teaching: The “a-ha” moments I see in my students when something finally clicks for them, academically or socially. Also, being a positive role model in their lives. I always admired my teachers so much and I hope I can be that type of person for my students.

Hobbies: Hot yoga, reading, going on walks and being with my friends and family

Last book read: “Everything, Everything” by Nicola Yoon

Favorite movie: “The Holiday” – whether it’s Christmastime or not!

Favorite vacation spot: New York City

Favorite cause: Prevent Child Abuse America

One thing that’s different about CMDS so far: I have 12 students instead of 24! Also, the atmosphere is always so wonderful and welcoming. I love walking in every morning and knowing that I’m appreciated!
