Parent Association

Christ Methodist Day School would not be complete without our dedicated volunteers. All parents are automatically “members” of the Parent Association, or PA, and are invited to become involved in the school community by becoming a member of the board or chairing one of the many events organized throughout the year. Grandparents are welcome too! These events range from assisting the art department with their bi-annual Art Fair, to a special morning at Donuts with Dad, to praying for our children with Moms in Prayer.

The PA Board is a vital link between our children, the school and our parents. If you’re interested in volunteering to help with one of our social, educational, cultural or fundraising events, please contact Mandy Biggs at CMDSPAPresident@gmail.com.

Parent Association Events

CMDS favorites include…

Back-to-School Parent Coffee
August
This is a fellowship event, which is held in Rash Hall the second week of school. The PA provides light refreshments as well as opportunities for parents to learn about and sign up to volunteer for PA events and programs. It’s an excellent way to get involved, support your child’s educational experience and develop relationships with other CMDS families.

Fall Fling
October
Every year, the Spirit Fund officially kicks off with the fabulous Fall Fling party. The 2018 Fall Fling – “Off the Rails” – will be held at Railgarten and will feature live music, a silent and live auction, food, drinks and fun.

PA Fall Carnival and Chili Cook-Off
November
This family-friendly event is held in the Courtyard and full of fun activities for all. We’ll provide the entertainment: balloon animals, face painting, snow cones, bounce houses and more! New for 2018 is the combination of Chili Cook-Off and the Fall Carnival, making it an afternoon you don’t want to miss! The Fall Carnival is hosted by the PA for the entire CMDS community.

CMDS Book Fair
November
Our annual Book Fair is held on campus, and a percentage of all sales during the event goes to the school.  This event encourages reading, helps the school financially and provides a convenient way for our families to pick up some great Christmas gifts. The 2018 Book Fair will be held in the newly renovated CMDS Library!

Birthday Party for Jesus
December
This special school event is held in early December and provides students a chance to learn the true meaning of Christmas. A large birthday cake is provided for the school and parent volunteers provide each classroom with a cake or cupcakes.
This is a great option for working parents!

Donuts with Dad
January
Students invite Dad or another special someone to enjoy breakfast and fellowship within our CMDS community.

Teacher Appreciation Week
February
This is the perfect
opportunity for us to show our CMDS teachers and staff how much we appreciate everything they do for our children throughout the school year. There are many different ways you can help throughout the month.

Art Fair: powered by STEAM
March (every other year)
This fun event, held every other year, highlights the STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) Initiative at CMDS. The next art fair will be in March 2020.

Grandparent’s Day
May
This is one of our most well-attended events. Our grandparents love seeing their grandchildren perform in a special program produced just for them.  There is also an opportunity for families to visit their student’s classroom to see highlights of classroom learning activities over the course of the school year.

Field Day
May
This event is held on Cy’s Field for 1st through 6th grade. PK, JK, and  SK celebrate Field Day in the Courtyard. Volunteers are needed for set-up, score-keeping, serving food and clean-up.
