Parent Association 2017-06-26T15:52:10+00:00

Christ Methodist Day School would not be complete without our dedicated volunteers. All parents are automatically “members” of the Parent Association, or PA, and are invited to become involved in the school community by becoming a member of the board or chairing one of the many events organized throughout the year. Grandparents are welcome too! These events range from assisting the art department with their bi-annual Evening with the Masters, to a special morning at Donuts with Dad, to praying for our children with Moms in Prayer.

The PA Board is a vital link between our children, the school and our parents. If you’re interested in volunteering to help with one of our social, educational, cultural or fundraising events, please contact Apryl Deas at

Parent Association Events

CMDS favorites include…

Back to School Parent Reception
This is a fellowship event, which is held in the Church Parlor on Parents Night right before the meeting. The PA provides light refreshments as well as opportunities for parents to learn about and sign up to volunteer for PA events and programs. It’s an excellent way to get involved, support your child’s educational experience, and develop relationships with other CMDS families.

Boosterthon FUN RUN
With the Boosterthon Fun Run, your student is the star! This program wraps fitness, leadership, and character together into a very positive experience tailored to our school’s campus. Students learn that fitness is fun as they prepare for the day of the event. Boosterthon Fun Run team members creatively illustrate integrity, honesty, and caring through daily classroom interaction. Students also learn about what it means to be a leader during the nine day experience.  Last year the PA raised over $25,000 for our school with this fun, character-building event!

Good Choices Week
Each fall, we dedicate a week to teaching our students about good choices. Though we call this week Good Choices Week, we use the acronym EXCEL (detailed below) to specifically emphasize certain areas on which we want to focus.
E – Educating students to make wise choices
X – Exercise and healthy eating
C – Christ made it possible for us to make wise choices
E – Emotions handled in a healthy way
L – Loving others, Good interpersonal skills, No bullying

CMDS Book Fair
Our annual Book Fair is held right across the street at Booksellers of Laurelwood in the Laurelwood Center.  A percentage of all sales during the event goes to the school.  This event encourages reading, helps the school financially, and provides a convenient way for our families to pick up some great Christmas gifts.
Enjoy dinner or dessert with your family in the Brontë Bistro-10% of café proceeds go to CMDS.
*  Get an early start on holiday shopping & receive complimentary gift wrap.
*  20% of all bookstore proceeds go directly to Christ Methodist.
*  This is a great option for working parents!

Birthday Cakes for Jesus
This special school event is held in early December and provides students a chance to learn the true meaning of Christmas. A large birthday cake is provided for the school and parent volunteers provide each classroom with a cake or cupcakes.
This is a great option for working parents!

Donuts with Dad
Students invite Dad or another special someone to enjoy breakfast and fellowship within our CMDS community.

Chili Cook-off
January (every other year)
Class teams and family teams vie for the best chili and team spirit on this fun, winter night event.  Don’t miss it!

Art Fair – “Evening with the Masters”
This fun, cultural event is held every other year and is open to the community. The next art fair will be held February 2016.

Teacher Appreciation Month
This is the perfect
opportunity for us to show our CMDS teachers and staff how much we appreciate everything they do for our children throughout the school year.  There are many different ways you can help throughout the month.

Grandparent’s Day
Late April or early May
This is one of our most well-attended events. Our grandparents love seeing their grandchildren perform in a special program produced just for them.  There is also an opportunity for families to visit their student’s classroom to see highlights of classroom learning activities over the course of the school year.

Field Day
This event is held on Cy’s Field for 1st through 6th grade. PK, JK, and  SK celebrate Field Day in the Day School courtyard. Volunteers are needed for set-up, score-keeping, serving food and clean-up.

Email if you want to become involved in the Parents Association.  There truly is something for everyone’s schedule!
