12/07/2011

Sixth grader Emily Thibodeaux beat out fourteen competitors last Friday to claim the the 2011 CMDS Spelling Bee championship. Her winning word was residue. Emily’s experience in last year’s Bee, which lasted forty-eight rounds, prepared her well for this year’s competition. She will represent Christ Methodist in the 2012 Memphis-Shelby County Spelling Bee in February.
Second place went to Emily’s classmate, Louis Wilford. Fourth grader John Webster came in third. Additional contestants included Davis Boeving, Cole McDondald, Mary Frances Hall, Ainsley Holliday, Emerson Manley, Colton Turner, Erin Webb, Henry Wood, Wesley Carr, Zach Hamlet, Charlie Rhodes, and Ben Rizer. Congratulations to all participants!
