CMDS 6th Graders Mary Elizabeth and Meryl are our student bloggers for the 2018-19 school year. They recently attended the CMDS new student breakfast and interviewed a few of our new friends.
The 2018-19 Student Leadership Council recently hosted a New Student Breakfast. The new students got to see some of their friends they have made so far as well as meet some new ones. They were also able to enjoy chicken minis from Chick-fil-A, donut holes, fruit and juice. We interviewed a few of them and got some really great answers about their favorite things about CMDS.
Meryl and Mary Elizabeth Interview New Students
One student we interviewed was a 1st Grader named Henry. He is in Mrs. Morgan’s 1st Grade class, and his favorite Encore class is Engineering Lab. Henry enjoys playing gaga ball at recess. He has bought lunch here on pizza day and burger day, and he seems to have really enjoyed it.
We also met Catie, who is in SK. Her favorite Encore is music with Mrs. Ellis. Catie loves to sing! She has also been able to enjoy having a 6th Grade buddy her very first year here at CMDS. This student should be able to teach Catie so much more about our fantastic school. Catie will have a great time playing and doing crafts with her buddy.
We had a chance to talk to a 3rd Grader named Ruthie. She has Mrs. Ruple as her homeroom teacher for her first year here at CMDS. Ruthie will get to have an “Alice in Wonderland” party after her class reads the book, “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll. Her favorite Encore is E-Lab with Mrs. Cheairs. E-Lab is a very popular Encore among the students here, and it’s a great place to get the students’ creative juices flowing. The students get to build many things and work with a 3D printer, which is a big privilege. She will love 3rd Grade at CMDS.
The last student we were able to interview was Avery. She is in Mrs. Deaver’s 2nd Grade class. Avery is loving all our super fun and interesting Encores here at CMDS. Avery is in for a treat when she finds out all the fun field trips she will get to go on this year as a 2nd Grader, including a trip to see “Peter Pan” at Playhouse on the Square.
Lots to Look Forward To
All of these students enjoy attending CMDS so far, and all of them admire their teachers. This year, the students will be in the annual Christmas play, go to our weekly Chapels, participate in the Easter Walk-Through and go on fascinating field trips. They will also get to participate in many fun field day games and even try out for “Disney’s 101 Dalmatians KIDS” or “Disney’s Beauty and The Beast JR.”
We hope the new students can have a great first year at CMDS!
