Meryl and Mary Elizabeth: Spring at CMDS

CMDS 6th Graders Mary Elizabeth and Meryl are our student bloggers for the 2018-19 school year. They have been so busy this year, their last at CMDS. They wanted to recap the exciting Spring they’ve had and all the memories they’ve made this year.

Spring is a very busy time here at CMDS. Three highlights of the season for us have been the school musical, our spring choir concert and the annual Easter Walk-Through. It’s been a very busy time but also very fun!

Spirits Theatre Presents Beauty and the Beast Jr.

This year, the 3rd-6th graders performed Beauty and the Beast Jr. We were both in the play this year. We had a blast performing for the huge crowds. It was a huge success!

Many of our classmates performed in the show with us, and the helpful stage crew members flipped our scenes, worked the sound, fixed up the mics and more! The sixth graders really enjoyed this play because it was a memory that will last lifetime.

Easter Walk-Through

One other memorable CMDS tradition during spring is the Easter Walk-Through. At the Easter Walk-Through, the students go around the school and watch the scenes from Easter. Each grade, 1st-6th, portrays the scenes, which include the Resurrection, the Last Supper and the Crucifixion.

After walking through the Easter scenes, every CMDS student bring a flower to put on the cross in our Courtyard. After everyone placed a flower on the cross, each 6th grader said a prayer for their friends, family and new experiences ahead. The Easter Walk-Through was a great time to remember all the wonderful things Jesus did for us.

CMDS Choir’s Spring 2019 Concert

The theme of this year’s spring CMDS Choir Concert was happiness. Songs included “Count on Me,” “Just Be Happy” and many more! Every CMDS 5th and 6th grader participates in choir. We worked very hard every Tuesday morning for the concert.

Jennifer Proseus is the Grade School music teacher and the choir director at CMDS. She does a spectacular job helping us learn the songs. We wrapped up our year in choir with a performance at the Memphis Redbirds game, singing the National Anthem!

Spring brings a lot of fun (and chaos) to CMDS! We all love this time of year because we get to do so many fun things. We will both miss CMDS and all of the special spring happenings at this amazing school!
