CMDS recently hosted an afternoon social for our Class of 2010, who are all heading off to new freshman adventures in the fall.
The event was an opportunity for these high school graduates to connect and catch up with old friends, and it was a treat for our school to have them back on campus. We are so impressed with what these students already have accomplished.
After earning scholarship offers from eight universities, Josh Hamlet – a Christian Brothers grad and Best of the Preps recipient in cross country for three years – committed to run for the hometown University of Memphis Tigers. Hamlet said of his years of CMDS: “It helped me develop a work ethic that carries over to everything I do in life.”
Patrick Murphy collected a slew of honors during his years at MUS, including a weighted 5.15 GPA, four consecutive Summa Cum Laude Gold Medals on the national Latin exam and the MUS Music Award, Mathematics Award and Religion Award.
Murphy, who earned a scholarship to the University of Notre Dame, said CMDS played a role in his strong Christian faith, and his sentiment was one shared by many of the graduates.
“CMDS allowed me to go to a non-Christian school with a strong faith and spiritual education,” said Hutchison graduate Carter Coleman, who is attending TCU on a Deans Scholarship.
St. Agnes grad Stephanie Baucum said CMDS “built a good building block” for her faith.
CMDS offers its students a unique opportunity to lead at a young age, and that background floods so many of our graduates with advanced leadership skills. Our Class of 2010 was no exception: Catherine Smith served as Class President and Yearbook Editor at Briarcrest; Coleman as Chapel Committee President at Hutchison; and Olivia Roop as Briarcrest’s Student Council Chaplain, to name a few.
The CMDS class of 2010 includes National Merit scholars, AP scholars, Hope scholars and Volunteer scholars, members of the National Beta Club, National Honor Society, Thespian Honor Society and much, much more.
Here’s a list of the entire class, their high school alma maters and their forthcoming collegiate destinations. Congratulations to the CMDS Class of 2010. We can’t wait to see what you do next!
