Why Choose 901? Nine Reasons Hattie Mae and Harrison Love Memphis!

CMDS 6th Graders Hattie Mae and Harrison are our student bloggers for the 2017-18 school year. Here, on this 901 Day in Memphis, they give you NINE reasons why they love their city.

1. Rendezvous

The Rendezvous has great food selections, and it is a great place to spend quality time with your family while enjoying the best BBQ in town. It has a hometown feel to it even if you don’t live here! It is a great attraction for many people to talk, eat, and have fun.

2. Memphis Zoo

The Memphis Zoo is an amazing place full of wildlife and activities for the whole family to enjoy! The Zambezi River is a great place to visit, and it is complete with a variety of African animals to see and watch. The zoo is also sectioned off into certain areas for certain areas on the globe.

3. Shelby Farms

Did you know that Shelby Farms Park is bigger than Central Park in New York City? Shelby Farms is a special place to take a jog, bike, or just relax by the lake. It’s complete with a new restaurant and Go Ape Course! Also, the playground is unlike any ordinary park in your neighborhood.

4. Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid

The Bass Pro Pyramid is a huge pyramid downtown, complete with a bowling alley, restaurant, mini-arcade, shooting and archery range, live fish, alligators, ducks, and a hotel. It is a great place to spend time with family and friends, and shop ‘til you drop! It also has a small lake right in the middle of it!

5. The Pink Palace

The Pink Palace is an astounding museum and educational theater for many families to explore and learn. The IMAX is a great place to learn about a subject through a fun and interesting film. It is great fun for the whole family!

6. Gibson’s Donuts

Gibson’s is the best place to buy donuts. The donuts are cheap, the employees are very nice, and the donuts melt in your mouth. Have you ever walked in and seen the empty trays at the counter? That’s how good they are!

7. Memphis Botanic Garden

The Botanic Gardens is a garden full of flowers, fountains, and pathways that are great for family hiking, or jogging alone. It also includes My Big Backyard, which is a play area for kids full of tree houses, playhouses, sprinkler parks, slides, and tunnels.

8. The Peabody Hotel

The Peabody Hotel is a hotel, but it also has other perks such as a gift shop, a duck house on the top floor, a bar and lobby, and, of course, duck walking! The duck master walks the ducks from the fountain to their home on the top floor on a red carpet leading to the elevator! Friends and family will have a great time socializing and watching the little ones “ohh” and “ahh” at the ducks!

9(01). Christ Methodist Day School

CMDS is a school for kids, babies through 6th grade; the school is also connected with Christ United Methodist Church. Christ Methodist is a great place to meet Christ and bring him into your heart. At school, you get to walk into the classroom greeted by smiling friends, teachers, and of course, a whole load of homework. We can never imagine leaving this place of wonder.

Happy 901 Day, Memphis, from Hattie Mae and Harrison!

Christ Methodist Day School first opened its doors in 1958 to 75 kindergarten students. Since then, CMDS has stayed true to its Christian elementary school roots while continuing to thrive as one of the best private schools in Memphis. We encourage you to come see why we are the primary choice for so many Memphis families.
