Mrs. Rubye Thompson “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 Even though Mrs. Thompson was born and raised in Henderson, Tennessee, she has lived in Memphis since 1952. She has a Business Degree for West Tennessee Business College where she graduated third in her class of 79 students. Mrs. Thompson is active in many organizations locally. She volunteers for Methodist Hospital, is active in U.M.W. and Reach for Recovery. Additionally, Mrs. Thompson’s church has awarded her with the Unsung Hero award. Before arriving at CMDS, Mrs. Thompson took a phonics course, which enabled her to teach CMDS 1st and 2nd graders in a Reading Group every day. She taught Children’s Sunday School for 10 years, and continues to teach Adults in Sunday School. Mrs. Thompson had been a member of the CMDS staff for thirty years and is an invaluable assistant to the teachers and office staff. Mrs. Thompson and her husband, Gene, have been married for 53 years. Her daughter, Carol Deaver, is a 2nd grade teacher at CMDS, and her son, Craig, is a graphics designer for Disciple Design and Advertising. While not at school. Mrs. Thompson keeps herself busy with her family and friends. |
