Mrs. McVean grew up in Houston, Texas, and has made Memphis her home since 1971.  She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Southern Methodist University and her Master of Education, with a specialty in reading, from the University of Memphis.  She is a member of Kappa Delta Pi, an honor society in Education. Mrs. McVean taught second graders in Houston, Texas, before joining the staff of Christ Methodist Day School.  She was a beloved third grade teacher for fourteen years, and then was named Assistant Headmaster.

For professional growth, Mrs. McVean attends workshops and seminars
through the Educational Records Bureau, Tennessee Association of Independent Schools, and Southern Association of Independent Schools.  Mrs. McVean is a Deacon at Second Presbyterian Church and has taught a women's Bible study for many years.  She enjoys spending time with family and friends, walking, reading, and traveling.
