Steve Jackson is currently serving as the Headmaster
of Christ Methodist Day School in Memphis, Tennessee. He is the fourth
Headmaster in the school's history since 1958. For the first time
in his career, Jackson is able to place his profession and faith
together. Steve served as the Principal of Spotswood Elementary School
in Harrisonburg, Virginia for nine years. He also served as the school's
Assistant Principal for four years prior to being named one of the
youngest principals in the Commonwealth of Virginia. While being
an administrator in Harrisonburg, he also taught in the Adult Degree
Completion Program at Eastern Mennonite University. He enjoyed the
challenge of teaching statistics. Steve began his teaching career
at Clark Elementary School in Charlottesville, Virginia. While there,
he taught 2nd, 4th and 5th grades. He taught one year at Walker Upper
Elementary School, also in Charlottesville. Steve has been involved
on the following professional committees: K-12 Task Force on the
Teaching Profession in Virginia, The State Superintendent's Investigative
Board, The Virginia Milken Educators Network, Phi Delta Kappa, Virginia
Association of Elementary Principals, and The National Association
of Elementary Principals. Steve's education began at West Elementary
School in Comstock, Michigan. In 1973 he entered on of the first
middle schools in the nation, Comstock Middle School. He went to
high school at Comstock High School and graduated in June of 1978. Steve
received his Bachelor's Degree from Olivet College in Olivet, Michigan
in May of 1982. His Master of Education was conferred in May of 1987
at the University of Virginia. Steve's involvement in his community
includes work with The Harrisonburg Office on Children and Youth
where he served as Commissioner and Treasurer, Coach and Treasurer
of Harrisonburg Little League Association, Deacon of First Presbyterian
Church of Harrisonburg, The United Way Campaign Harrisonburg, The
United Way of the Mid-South Campaign Cabinet Memphis, and Deacon
of Woodland United Presbyterian Church. |
