“Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”- Philippians 4:6-7

A native Memphian, Mrs. Dugan grew up in Jackson, Tennessee, but moved back to Memphis her sophomore year in college to attend the University of Memphis. She earned a Bachelor of Professional Studies, a self-designed degree combining journalism, art, photography and sociology.

Mrs. Dugan has been married, for 20 years to her college sweetheart, Dennis, and they have two children.  Erin, 16, started here at Christ Methodist the summer the Day Care Program began in 1991, moved on to Pre-K, and stayed through her sixth-grade graduation. Erin is now a junior at St. Agnes Academy. Sean, 11, will graduate from CMDS next spring.

Mrs. Dugan started substituting here in 2003, after taking nearly ten years off to be a full-time mom. During this time she stayed closely connected to the school by volunteering in the classroom and leading her daughter’s Girl Scout troop for six years. She joined the Day School staff full-time in July 2005, as Director of Communications.  “I feel so blessed to be able to stay at Christ Methodist Day School after Sean graduates,” Dugan says.  “If I thought that I had only one more year here with my Christ Methodist ‘family’, I would be so sad.  The atmosphere here is truly exceptional, almost inexplicable."

During her “first career” at UT Memphis, Health Sciences Center, Jan served first as the Office Manager in the Audiovisual and Biomedical Photography Division, but it was her stint in the Student Life Office, planning and promoting social and cultural programs for the student body and heading up student publications that prepared her for her current position.

Jan enjoys “anything to do with art”, reading, and aerobics, but would rather be giggling with her family and friends than just about anything else.
