Available Positions

Encore Teacher
Full-Time Art Teacher Position Available for 2019-20
Our Encore program includes a variety of Fine Arts classes as well as our STEAM offerings. Encore expands and complements the core CMDS curriculum, immersing students in an elementary, liberal arts-style experience. Encore faculty members teach a rotation of classes each week, planning appropriate and standards-based lessons for each grade level. Encore teachers are expected to follow each grade level’s classroom curriculum and produce lessons that enhance and expand on the topics covered.
The team of Encore teachers also works together to create cross-curricular projects across a variety of subjects. An example: 3rd Graders this year read “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” in their homeroom and then designed a game around the story. They painted the gameboards in Art and printed 3D game pieces in Engineering Lab.
Qualifications: Bachelors or Masters degree in art, education or related field; prior teaching experience; the ability to work as a member of the CMDS Encore team, planning cross-curricular projects with Encore teaching partners and classroom teachers; an understanding of and a familiarity with a variety of art media; and a genuine love of children’s education.

Encore Teacher
Discovery Lab Position Available for 2019-20
Our Encore program includes a variety of Fine Arts classes as well as our STEAM offerings. Encore faculty members teach a rotation of classes each week, planning appropriate and standards-based lessons for each grade level. Encore teachers are expected to follow each grade level’s classroom curriculum and produce lessons that enhance and expand on the topics covered. Our STEAM-influenced Discovery Lab encourages Early Childhood students to be scientists and engineers. The course includes a rotation of science and nature, engineering and construction and a tinker space where students can explore freely. The curriculum strategy is to encourage students to ask questions, gather information, form hypotheses, experiment, share and collaborate. Introducing them to the design-thinking process at a young age fosters creative experimentation and a love for science and engineering.
Qualifications: Bachelors or Masters degree in education or related field; prior teaching experience; the ability to work as a member of the CMDS Encore team, planning cross-curricular projects with Encore teaching partners and classroom teachers; and a genuine love of children’s education.

Academic Support Teacher
Connections Positions Available for 2019-20
The Connections program at CMDS is designed to give academic support to students through work in a small-group setting for a portion of the day. Our Connections teachers also give periodic learning support in the students’ regular classrooms as needed. Students are admitted to the program based on performance observations, teacher referrals and diagnostic testing. The Connections program promotes success through a combination of small-group work in a separate setting, as well as individual assistance in the regular classroom.
Qualifications: Masters degree in education or certified speech-language pathologist; training in specialized reading instruction (OG, SMILA and Lindamood-Bell techniques); ability to work as a member of our Connections team and collaborate with classroom teachers on planning and implementing curriculum; and a genuine love of children’s education.

Lower and Upper School Teachers
Full-Time Positions Available for 2019-20
Christ Methodist Day School seeks Lower and Upper classroom teachers to join its faculty for the 2019-20 school year. Our Lower School is comprised of 1st, 2nd and 3rd Grade, and Upper School is 4th, 5th and 6th. Each grade level works as a team to plan, develop and implement curriculum and projects.
The candidate must be passionate about teaching and fostering excitement in elementary students. He or she should be willing to try new things and embrace new technology and curriculum while also adhering to the many traditions CMDS holds dear.
Qualifications: Bachelors or Masters degree in education or a related field; prior teaching experience; the ability to be an active participant on the grade-level teaching team, bringing fresh ideas to the project-oriented curriculum; an understanding of and familiarity with a balanced approach to technology; and a genuine love of children’s education.

Early Childhood Teacher
Full-Time Position Available for 2019-20
Christ Methodist Day School seeks an Early Childhood teacher to join its faculty for the 2019-20 school year. Our Early Childhood department is comprised of 2K, PK, JK and SK, students ages 2 to 6. Each grade level works as a team to plan, develop and implement curriculum and age-appropriate activities.
The candidate must be passionate about teaching and fostering a joy of learning in our youngest students. He or she should be willing to try new things and embrace new technology and curriculum while also adhering to the many traditions CMDS holds dear. An understanding of assessing young children, as well as a knowledge of a standards-based grading scale, is beneficial. Our Early Childhood faculty members should possess a gentle demeanor, be observant of students’ needs and have an overall love of children.
Qualifications: Bachelors or Masters degree in education or a related field; prior teaching experience; the ability to be an active participant on the grade-level teaching team, bringing fresh ideas to the age-appropriate curriculum; an understanding of and familiarity with a balanced approach to technology; and a genuine love of children’s education.

Instructional Assistants
Full-Time and Part-Time Positions Available for 2019-20
Instructional Assistants work with grade-level teaching teams as well as Encore classes to provide support and assistance during the school day. Duties can vary from helping teachers with administrative tasks to providing small-group instruction.
